Led by MIT engineer Linda Griffith, the Center for Gynepathology Research brings together over 15 laboratories and clinical practices in the Boston area and around the world to foster both basic and clinical research in endometriosis, infertility, pre-term birth, sexually-transmitted disease, and other pathologies of the female reproductive tract.
In March 2026, the NIH awarded CGR a major grant to establish a NAMs Center for Women’s Health. This new center focuses on developing novel approach methodologies (NAMs)—including organs-on-chips and other advanced platforms—that model human biology in ways traditional methods cannot. By shifting research from animal models to engineered human systems, we’re advancing the understanding of female-skewed diseases and accelerating solutions for women’s health.
